Terms of service
These terms cover your use of the Disaster.app website and the household plan subscription. By using the site or subscribing, you agree to them. We've kept them as short and plain as we can.
Not an emergency service
Disaster.app helps you prepare. It is not an emergency service, and it does not replace emergency services, official warnings or instructions from local authorities.
In an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number. Always follow the instructions of emergency services and local officials, and keep your phone's official emergency alerts turned on.
Alerts we pass on come from official sources and can be delayed, incomplete or fail to arrive, for example if your phone has no signal. Do not rely on Disaster.app as your only source of warnings.
Our guides summarise public advice from official sources. They are general information, not medical, legal or professional advice for your exact situation.
The free risk check
The free risk check shows typical hazards for your state based on patterns in the FEMA National Risk Index. It is a general guide only. Hazards where you live may be higher or lower.
Your subscription
The household plan is a yearly subscription. The price is shown before you buy.
Creem is our merchant of record. When you subscribe, you buy from Creem, which takes payment, handles sales tax and VAT, and issues your receipt. Creem's terms also apply to your purchase.
Your subscription renews automatically each year unless you cancel. We will remind you by email before it renews.
Cancelling and refunds
You can cancel at any time from your account, or by emailing support@disaster.app. Your subscription stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
When you cancel, you keep the plan already saved on your devices and any copies you printed. Live alerts, updates and syncing stop at the end of your paid period.
If something isn't right, email support@disaster.app and we'll do our best to fix it. Refund requests are handled with Creem, and you keep any refund rights the law gives you where you live.
Your account
Keep your login details safe, and make sure the information you give us is accurate so your plan is useful. You are responsible for who you invite to your household plan.
Acceptable use
Don't misuse the service: no attempts to break into it, overload it, copy it in bulk, or use it to harm anyone.
Our content
The Disaster.app name, design and plan content belong to us. You may print and share your own plan with your household and the people who help you.
Limits on our responsibility
We work hard to keep Disaster.app accurate and available, but we can't promise it will always be error-free or uninterrupted. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for loss or damage caused by relying on the service in place of official instructions, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under law that cannot be limited.
Changes to these terms
If we make important changes, we will update the date at the top and tell subscribers by email before the change takes effect. If you don't agree, you can cancel.
